8 step pre-screening process

Resource Nation has partnered with Experian, the largest US credit check company, to pre-screen each of the vendors in our network. The pre-screening process helps to reduce the risk of working with a fraudulent company and allows you to view detailed background information on each of the vendors in our network. This pre-screening process looks for the following information:

  • Verify state business filings: Includes business entity type and registered address for the business

  • Verify the years in business/established: Experian's report provides date established data, showing the number of years Experian has been collecting data on this company. This date may be different from the Business Establish Date. The Business Establish Date is when the company first started doing business. For example, the business may have been established in 1/95, but the business was not established on the Experian file until 6/95.

  • Search for aliases: The Experian reports provide registered DBAs for the business. Experian also provides "Previously Known As" data. If the business has multiple names due to a name change or merger or if the primary name of the company has been changed the report will display the current name shown. The previous name is also displayed.

  • Search for judgments: The Experian reports provide a list of legal judgments which have been filed against the company.

  • Search for bankruptcies or liens: The Experian reports provide a list of bankruptcies and liens on the business. This report shows activity related to tax liens levied against the company. The information generally includes: date, filing agency, legal type, legal action, document number, liability amount, and description. Knowing if a business has a tax lien will help point out if they are becoming a higher risk due to nonpayment of taxes. In this situation, the tax agency is taking security of the debt.

  • Identify verification: (reverse phone lookup) An attempt is made to match the phone number provided by the vendor to the phone number on the Experian report or to match the number to the business that registered to join Resource Nation's network.*

  • Company revenue and number of employees: This data is not available for all businesses.

  • Company collection and credit review: If the company has Collections listed the report shows a summary of the actual collections reported. The data is summarized into the status of the collection activity, with the dollar amounts for items in dispute and items collected.

  • Resource Nation attempts to pre-screen every vendor in our network based on the above data points. However, not all vendors may have a report available. (E.g. a new sole proprietor may not yet have a report available) After completing the "request for quotes" form, buyers receive an e-mail with the contact information for the vendors matched to their project. Vendors that have a full Experian report available will say "pre-screened" next to the contact information with a link to the full Experian report.

Resource Nation uses Experian as a 3rd party to provide information on each of the vendors in our network (or to mark that a report is not available). If a report is available, Experian is simply verifying that the business was in good standing with its state business filing at the time the report was run. While Resource Nation may view the additional information in the report and in some cases may exclude a vendor from its network, Resource Nation is not representing that the information discovered in the reports would qualify the vendor to perform the services requested by the buyer. Through the links provided by Resource Nation, buyers are able to purchase the full Experian report to make a judgment on their own. Buyers agree not to rely on Resource Nation in any way in their background check of a vendor and therefore indemnify and release Resource Nation for any such claims.

    * In some cases the vendor's business phone number cannot be verified to match the number on a credit report. Purchasers are encouraged to purchase the full Experian report to perform their own background checks and identify verification.

    Costs of Mailing Machines

Using a mail machine, also called a mail meter machine, can be a great way to streamline your mailing process. Mail meter machines link to a business account and charge postage in bulk for all mailings, eliminating the need to go to the post office, buy stamps, or individually apply postage to each piece of outgoing mail. One important consideration in choosing a mail postage machine is cost.

Some of the costs associated with mail postage machines include the cost of the mailing machine itself and the cost to install and operate the machine. There may also be cost considerations regarding bulk billing for postage and maintenance costs associated with operation of the mail postage machine. Considering these costs can give a business a realistic estimate of the amount of money they will save in using a mailing machine.
