Almost every business has a web presence today whether it's a simple landing page, or a full-blown $50K site. Most of the time, companies will take a different approach to re-design, or refresh a website. Some, will try and purchase a template and do a basic web page design in-house. Others, will try and hire an affordable quality web site design or a custom website design. If you decide to outsource your web site design, consider mapping out what your needs are for the site. Do you need a product page, or just a few landing pages with credibility to capture the information of the visitor? Do you need an ecommerce web site that includes a store through another third party to take in the credit card and payment information? How much do you want to spend on the full site design? Consider the low end with what you could live with to start and the full blown expense for what your ideal web presence would be.
When you reach these conclusions and start talking to agencies and freelance designers, look at all their samples, ask questions about their programming knowledge and usability, and when all is said and done, will you own the site you just paid for? These are all relevant questions and the more you ask, the more you know.
